Murder: Southern-Style — A Psychic Profiling Case

Psychic profiling refers to the practice of using intuitive or paranormal impressions to gather information about missing persons or criminal investigations. In some cases, individuals who claim psychic abilities attempt to assist families or investigators by providing details about locations, suspects, or events surrounding a crime.

Murder: Southern-Style — A Psychic Profiling Part 1

Imagine waking up to a quiet Southern morning, drinking your coffee, and planning out your day. It seems like any other morning — until it isn’t. When Mike showed up for work on just such a day, he never imagined his plans would be interrupted by murder.

What is psychic profiling? For me, it involves obtaining information and messages from those who have passed. People often come to me for help filling in the missing pieces.

Many police organizations use the services of gifted mediums to assist with unsolved cases. I am about to tell you the story of one such case. Out of respect for the victim’s family, and for the protection of my own family, all names have been changed.

In February 2017, one of my family members approached me about their missing friend, Mike. The family member sent me a picture of Mike and asked if I could “get” anything from it.

Psychic profiling is incredibly challenging for a gifted medium. This is never a favorite task of mine. I’ll often uncover facts and truths that may be hurtful or cause sadness. I didn’t really want to do this, but after a week of deliberation, I decided to see what I could do. I kept reminding myself that I was not doing this for myself. For some reason, I had been chosen for this task, and the answers I received were meant for those who would ultimately decide what to do with them.

Psychic profiling often begins with a photograph of the missing or deceased individual, allowing the medium to focus and attempt to receive impressions or information connected to the case.

Mike was a young man in his mid-20s from a southern state and a childhood friend of my family member. He was a son, a brother, and a father to a little girl. He had been missing for a week when I was approached about his case.

Before I gather information, I surround myself in bright light and ask for protection. I ask the subject — in this case Mike — to show me what they want me to see. I sat down with Mike’s picture and asked, “What do you want me to know? How can I help you? What messages, if any, can I give?”

Mike didn’t waste any time. He started explaining, yelling, and giving me so much information all at once that I quickly became overwhelmed. I had to ask him to slow down and be calm.

Unfortunately, the first piece of information Mike let me know was that he was not only missing — but dead.

Mike showed himself to me. He was a heavy-set man wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and work boots.

I first asked Mike to tell me about himself to confirm some of the information my family member had already shared. Mike was a foreman for the lumber company his father and uncle had founded many years ago. Mike told me that his parents were divorced and that he was in a relationship with his daughter’s mother. At that point, I was convinced that I was speaking with Mike.

"Alright, Mike, let’s start from the beginning.”

As I said this, I was suddenly transported to the place where Mike’s story began. I began to see the location and all the surroundings where Mike was murdered. I was now walking alongside him as he guided me through the events of that day.

Mike started to explain what happened and said, “They caught me off guard.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I know the two guys that did this to me.”

Mike went on to describe two men who worked for his dad’s company. One man was white with short hair and a scruffy beard. He was of average build and shorter than Mike. The other man was black, tall, and thin.

I asked Mike how he died.

Mike explained that the two men approached him around noon while he was on his skid tractor. Mike showed me where he was: a large field with low shrubs, tree stumps, and tall thin pines. The men walked from the road and through the brush toward him.

Mike thought to himself, “What do these two bubbas want?”

They began talking about work.

Mike continued showing me what happened. He had been speaking with the black man when the white man came up behind him and struck him on the head. The white man had some type of wooden object. At first, I thought it was a baseball bat, but it was much longer. I got the sense that it was a tool used by someone who worked cutting trees.

Mike fell to his knees and then to his side.

When Mike went down, the black man stabbed him.

“I felt the blood running down my neck,” Mike said. “Then I felt this sharp burning pain on my side.”

I saw Mike trying to get up before being pushed back down. The black man stabbed him again.

The white man ran back to the truck and returned with a blue blanket.

They wrapped Mike up and carried him back to the truck.

It was a long drive before the two men made it to their destination.

"At this point I was still alive,” Mike said. “I remember the road was rough and started to become winding. I knew exactly where they were taking me.”

Mike showed me a body of water.

The two men threw him off the truck, and he landed half in the water and half on the bank of what looked like a river. It wasn’t a wide river — maybe 500 yards across.

Mike was still wrapped in the blanket, lying face down with his legs in the water. Mike continued describing where he was. He showed me a tall, narrow bridge. It looked like a walking bridge or train viaduct going over the river.

He kept yelling a number to me: 18.

Mike also showed me tall trees with branches only near their tops. There were short pointy plants at the bases of the trees and wisps of grass growing among them.

Mike said, “They need to come soon.”

Again, he yelled the number 18.

There was still more of the story to tell. I wanted to understand why these men killed Mike. I wanted him to show me something that could help bring his killers to justice.

“Mike, show me some clues or facts. Give me something.” I asked him, “Why do you think these men killed you?”

“False loyalty,” he replied. He explained that lies were the foundation of what these men did.

“Who lied?” I asked.

“A lot of people did,” Mike said sadly.

“Mike, can you give me more information about who lied? Is there something I can tell your family?”

Mike warned that I needed to be careful — and that his family needed to be careful as well.

He wasn’t certain who, but he believed someone in law enforcement was not trustworthy.

“One of the men who did this is related to someone high up in the police force,” Mike said. “There is a lot of corruption.”

Mike was also worried about his daughter. He believed his daughter’s family might somehow be involved, although he wasn’t sure how.

“My daughter’s mom and I didn’t get along. There was a lot of trouble between us, and I hope she didn’t have anything to do with this.”

Mike was understandably sad. He was realizing that he would never hold his daughter again.

“Let my mom know I will check in on her if I can,” he said quietly. Then he added: “Can you have my mom give her my guitar?”

I then saw Mike walking with an older man and another figure I would describe as a heavenly presence.

At that moment, I understood that Mike had died on the riverbank. He showed this to me so I could tell his family that he did not die alone. His grandfather and Jesus were there to help guide him on his journey.

Murder: Southern-Style — A Psychic Profiling Part 3

Mike had given me a fair amount of information by this point. I hoped it was enough for his family.

About a week after the psychic profiling session, I contacted one of my family members. She arranged a conference call with Mike’s aunt.

The call began with introductions. Mike’s aunt thanked me for helping their family.

I started by explaining: “I get what I get, and I don’t get what I don’t get.”

This simply means that the information given to me is all the information I receive. If I don’t have the answers someone is hoping for, then I simply don’t have them.

I began explaining what Mike had told me.

The hardest part came first. I told his aunt that I believed Mike was dead. She became upset but said she already knew that in her heart.

“He would not have left his daughter,” she said with a quiver in her voice. Then the questions began.

“How did he die? Do you know who killed him? Where is he?” I answered as many as I could.

I told them Mike said he was caught off guard and that he recognized the two men who attacked him as employees at the lumber company.

I explained that Mike referred to them as “Bubbas,” which made sense given how casually they approached him.

Mike’s aunt confirmed that two employees had failed polygraph tests. The descriptions matched the men I had described.

During a conference call, Mike’s family compared details from the psychic profiling session with known facts from the investigation.

I also explained the wooden object used to strike Mike. At first, I thought it was a baseball bat. Mike’s aunt immediately clarified.

“It was probably a pole saw handle,” she said.

Often, broken handles are kept by the crew and used as walking sticks.

She then confirmed the rest of the sequence: Mike was struck in the head and then stabbed twice.

I explained that Mike showed me a narrow bridge or viaduct near a river.

Mike’s aunt said there was indeed a railroad viaduct a few miles from where Mike’s skid tractor had been found.

Then I asked her about the number 18.

Mike had been shouting it repeatedly. Her reaction was immediate. She suddenly became excited.

“There are mile markers along the tracks,” she said. “Mike must be near mile marker 18.”

Mike had also mentioned the phrase false loyalty. His aunt understood immediately. She told me about Mike’s ex-girlfriend.

She had struggled with drug addiction. Mike helped her get sober. Soon after, she became pregnant and Mike became a father. Later, Mike suspected she had returned to drugs. When he filed for custody of their daughter, she allegedly told two men that Mike was molesting the child.

The men believed the story. They murdered Mike.

Mike had also warned me about corruption.

His aunt confirmed that one of the suspects was related to the sheriff’s family. The other was related to the ex-girlfriend.

Finally, I passed along Mike’s last message.

He wanted his mother to give his guitar to his daughter. This made his aunt cry. She explained that Mike’s daughter would point to his guitar and say “Daddy.”

The only thing that could stop the baby from crying was showing her his guitar.

I had given them everything I had.

Before we ended the call, I shared one final message Mike had given me.

“They better come quick,” he said. “Or they won’t find me there.”

His aunt wanted to go immediately, but it was already dark.

Instead, she decided to call the authorities. Unfortunately, this would turn out to be a mistake.

The family now had the information, and it was their decision whether to take it to the authorities. Mike’s aunt desperately wanted to find him. The next day she went to the sheriff’s office.

By then, local authorities had brought in state investigators. At that time they still believed Mike might be alive.

When she told them she believed Mike was dead, they became interested. However, when they asked how she knew so much, she eventually revealed the source.

The sheriff dismissed her quickly and warned her not to interfere with the investigation. Mike’s aunt did not listen.

She began asking questions on her own.

She visited Mike’s ex-girlfriend’s home multiple times.

Each time, the two men I described were present.

The black man’s presence made sense because he was related to the girlfriend. The white man’s presence did not. This made her even more suspicious.

Eventually, she went to mile marker 18. When she arrived, search teams were already there. For a moment, she believed they had listened to her. There was commotion near the riverbank.

She ran toward the group.

“Did you find him?” she asked.

“No,” the investigator said angrily.

He warned her that she could be arrested for interfering.

As she was being escorted away, she noticed something near the riverbank. A blue blanket. It appeared to be stained.

A blue blanket discovered near the riverbank became a key piece of evidence in the investigation following the psychic profiling session.

A week later authorities confirmed they had found a blanket with blood on it. DNA testing showed the blood belonged to Mike.

The search eventually ended.

The case was changed from missing person to homicide.

Six months later, a lawyer working on a documentary contacted me. But the call never happened. The sheriff warned the lawyer not to continue.

A year passed with no progress.

Then something unexpected happened.

A crew discovered human remains in a shallow grave near the original search area. The body was found exactly one year after Mike disappeared.

DNA confirmed it was Mike.

His remains were only about ten feet from where the original search began.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death exsanguination. He had been stabbed twice and had a skull fracture.

Mike’s case remains open today.

His family still hopes justice will be served. The last message Mike ever gave me was simple.

“I will check in on my daughter.”

Then he added:
